Leaving Sprint - want a smooth transition

Looong time Sprint user and it's time to say good riddance. I want to move to AT&T, get a Treo with text messaging, data and PAM. I want to keep my existing phone number.

How do I go about this and make it a smooth transition? I want to avoid interruption in service, and of course I want a good deal. I spend over $100/mth right now on a lousy phone and a Sprint data card.

Any suggestions?

the unlimited PDA plan is 50 bux...unlimited data and messaging... then pick what ever voice plan you need... you get your best deal at the website...you can port your number from there as well... at the end of the order it asks you if you want to bring in your number (port in)

Question

What, no wi-fi on treo's??

I've been using a Palm T/X for years and love it. Big screen, built in wifi and bluetooth...does everything but phone and if it had a mic jack I could probably get iskoot / Skype to run on this puppy and be done even with wireless phones.

What bugs me is that none of the high-end Treo's come with wi-fi...collusion with the carriers, I guess. And AT&T has limited options on Treo's.

I'm looking at the Tilt (8925), though I'd prefer not to go Microsoft. grrr

-----------------------

Is the port over process simple or will I have to deal with Sprint? I'm concerned about them getting in the way and making life difficult when I try to port my number. They're very good at making life difficult.
