Why the GoPhone is starting to bother me...

Is anyone else becoming irate with AT&T's GoPhones? They keep raising the price on text messages. They're going to be $0.20 per message starting next month. "So don't read them," you may suggest. Well, I don't. I don't open them or read them, but I've discovered that it doesn't make a difference, because it charges my account anyway just to have them sent to my phone. I've had to send messages to everyone who has my number saying not to send me texts. Does the same thing happen on phones with contracts?

i belive there is a way to cancel incoming texts.
dial 611, hopefully free of charge and have them turn off the txt feature.
prepaid is such a pain in the butt, it ends up costing more a month than post paid.
have you considered going on a contract account? if not at&t maybe another carrier.

As edgar1013 said, you could cancel text, but there is another option: You could call customer service and ask that they change your phone's email address. Instead of your phone "number@txt.att.net", the addy can be changed to anything you want, that is not in use, such as "sarah23@txt.att.net". That way, you should only receive messages from those that you have given your address to.
