Apple iPhone

Phone Review: Apple iPhone

Apple's first phone is also the first phone to feature a completely finger-touch interface using multi-touch screen technology. Key software features include iPod, Safari full web browser, a mail client, and widgets such as weather, Google Maps, and YouTube. Key hardware features include a large, high-resolution display, quad-band EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and up to 8 GB of internal memory.

For those that have decided to go with the apple phone, aren't you worried about the whole uninsurable part? I drop my phone a lot.

iPhone User since day 1!!

I actually stood in line at the SoHo store in Manhattan to get them on the first day. I was in line by 6PM and in and out of the store and on my way home before 7PM.

The set-up was a little slow on the first day, but other than that - they (I bought four of them!) all set up and worked beautifully. My partner, my spouse, and my daughter all got one, in addition to my own. Let me tell you I'm in love with this phone!

I've always been a "tech junkie" and an "early adopter" of the newest stuff. Sorry, but sometimes it's worth paying a bit more to have it for a year before everyone else does. (Sometimes!) This phone is going to change the way the world looks at and what they expect of their cell phones. The day after we got ours, we left for a drive from NYC to Los Angeles. Four or five days across the country, I had web access, my email, and of course the phone in the palm of my hand. The unit even integrated flawlessly with the Bluetooth in my new Rover!

My business partner who's a technophobe (ludite if he could be!) even likes his iPhone. He says "it's what they should have been all along - but it took Apple to figure it out and make it happen in a way mere mortals could actually USE!!" My daughter said that she had at least 200 guys on campus coming up to her to check out the iPhone. (Well, they SAID they were checking out the iPhone that first day or so...???) And my spouse? She loves the damned thing! I get emails from her all the time now. And text messages, too.

Pure and simple, they just work and work well. Like the iPod or the Mac computers. Apple doesn't always do it first. They just do it BEST! BTW: the quality of the build, the solidity, and even the packaging is superb. Yes. I shelled out $600/each plus tax for them, and they were frankly worth the money. A month later when the prices dropped by $200 and there was such an outcry that Apple offered the original purchasers a $100 gift certificate for use in the Apple Stores - well, frankly I didn't need it and would have been just fine without it. Don't get me wrong - I won't turn my back on free money. Of course I downloaded all four of them - but haven't decided what I'm going to blow the extra $400 on at Apple, yet! They might come out with something else I've just got to have. Like maybe a new 17" Laptop that could easily replace not only my present laptop but a couple of desktops we have, too!

Mr. Jobs - 'ya hit a home run with this phone and you're changing the cellular business for the better. Now if AT&T doesn't screw it up too badly, you'll be in great shape. If they do, heaven knows Apple has enough cash to simply buy the AT&T Wireless business and then clean it up, too! (Well, one can dream, can't one?) I for one would glady pay a premium price for Apple Branded Cell Service if and ONLY if they offered their usual level of EXCELLENT support to their customers. But if it were Apple, that kind of goes with the territory, doesn't it? Happy? More like DELIGHTED! Better than I dared hope they would be!

Before anyone asks - no I don't work for Apple and never have. I am a stock holder and have been since their IPO. I just think they're a great company with great products and I'm not afraid to tell anyone that opinion. Doubt it? Go use an iPhone and compare it to a Moto Razr or the latest Blackberry. It's like night and day! And believe me, the iPhone is the DAY!!!
