If it is possible then would you be able to bypass the data charges from Cingular? I know some of the cell phone companies are only charging/checking the logging for their wap page.

to correct my esteemed colleague... no you cannot use your own proxy... and there is no way to bypass data charges... data connections have some variables that are device dependant but have to be in the right combination to work... wrong combination... no work...

the tyypical proxy is wireless.cingular.com port 80 there are others but if not within the cingular config rules.. it just wont work

WAP = Wireless Application Protocol = An open, worldwide standard enabling mobile data applications on a variety of platforms. It enables independent access to the Internet and advanced telephony services by specifying application and communication protocols for wireless devices

proxy = (1) An application running on a gateway that relays packets between a trusted client and an untrusted host. (2) A software agent that acts on behalf of a user.

for a WAP enabled device (phone or PDA) no wap proxy or installed incorrectly means no data connection
